DO YOUR PRODUCTS CONTAIN...?Updated 5 months ago

Sulfates? Ammonium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate (SLES), sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) are common sulfate-based ingredients that many hair experts consider irritating. We do NOT use these ingredients. Pure sulfate ingredients, like the ones just listed, can strip away too much moisture, leaving the hair dry and unhealthy. However, at Viori, we use behentrimonium methosulfate in our products. Behentrimonium methosulfate is commonly accepted in the haircare industry as a sulfate-free ingredient due to the attached metho-chain. Behentrimonium methosulfate is an example of an quaternary ammonium ingredient that contains the SO42-compound, but due to the preceding metho-chain and the cationic surfactant nature, this ingredient is not irritating like your common sulfate-based surfactants and creates a more neutral/stable compound. Therefore changing the very make up and nature of the compound. As a matter of fact, this particular ingredient has the ability to impart great conditioning properties to the hair by increasing slip and aiding in closing the cuticle, due to its cationic nature. This is why we consider and state that our products sulfate-free.

Arsenic? Through our rinsing and fermentation process with the rice, there is very little to no traces of arsenic found in our products. We also monitor the pH level very closely to make sure it stays at a safe and balanced level.

DMDM/Hydantoin? Our products do not contain DMDM Hydantoin.

Corn? We have one ingredient, sodium lactate, that is derived from the natural fermentation of sugars found in corn and beets.

Palm or Palm Oil? Currently the Cetyl Alcohol and Stearic Acid we use in our bars are derived from Palm Oil, but the suppliers we use are RSPO Palm Oil (Roundtable On Sustainable Palm Oil) which verifies the palm oil is from sustainable sources). Also, our BTMS currently contains Cetyl alcohol and we will be shifting to a BTMS that also uses RSPO Cetyl alcohol. This means all ingredients derived from palm oil will be RSPO (from sustainable sources). At this time, those are all very difficult to go non-palm oil so we are doing our best to confirm with suppliers and make sure we are using sustainable sources.

We have been and are currently in an on-going search to find palm-free, compatible replacements for these ingredients but have yet to find something that upholds the same quality and yields the same results. We will continue to keep searching until we find a compatible alternative!

Lye Our bars do not contain any lye.

Nuts? Our products contain Shea Butter which is derived from Shea nuts. These are tree nuts used to produce Shea nut butter. We also use Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate in our bars which is a natural cleanser derived from coconut. We are sorry if this has caused any type of inconvenience.

Soy? Yes. We have a couple ingredients in both our shampoo and conditioner bars that are derived from soy. If you have an extreme allergy to soy, then we do not recommend using any of our products.
